Joe Cummiskey RIP

Joe Cummiskey RIP

The Union is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Joe Cummiskey, class of 1964. Dr.Cummiskey served as president of the Union from 1995 to 1996, and his has been a constant presence in Union life.

Joe will be remembered as a pillar of Rockwell life, from his time in the college to the present day. His commitment to athletic and academic endeavour was peerless, and he was a man of uncommonly large character.

While in Rockwell, Joe was captain of the 1964 cup-winning SCT, and was a member of the Athletics team that won the College of Science cup of the same year (see photo above). After his graduation from Rockwell, he went on to study medicine and became a Respiratory Physician at the Blackrock Clinic. His achievements beyond that point include being  a member Of European Fsma, and a member Of The International Olympic Committee, Medical Committee, to name but a few.

Joe's loss will be felt deeply, and we here at the Union would like to extend our deepest sympathies to all those mourning his passing.
