Meet Max Fitzgerald – Rockwell Sportsman of the Year 2026 (Elite Cyclist)

I have just finished my Leaving Cert studies in Rockwell College. I am so proud to win Rockwell sportsman of the year and set out as an ambassador for Rockwell, Ireland, my friends & family.

Up until now I’ve had quite a successful career:

·      European silver medallist at the junior European track  cycling championships Anadia Portugal.

·      Setting a senior Irish record at the age of 18 for the 1km Time Trial In Konya Turkey.

·      Winning Irelands prestigious Stephen Roche Grand Prix as a junior in the senior race and to date representing Ireland over 10 times.

·      Winning 3 national titles in youth racing

My goal is to sign a world tour contract which is the top level of professional cycling. My other goals include, to represent Ireland at the Olympics, to win a European title and to become the Irish senior national champion.

At this early stage of my senior career, it is crucial to put myself on the right path, this is where funding is vital. Outside sponsorship I have to fund flights/transport, training camps, nutrition, accommodation, specialist equipment, physiotherapists etc.
