Rockwellian heads up Munster Rugby

Congratulations are in order for Charlie Buckley, a past Rockwell student and now president of the IRFU Munster Branch. He will be leading the organisation for the 2017/18 season, and we expect to see his hard graft and enthusiasm in full display over the coming year.

Charlie’s links to rugby are deep rooted, dating back to his schoolboy period. While his sporting years were by no means bound to rugby alone, with an excellent GAA streak in his earlier career, his time in Rockwell and beyond saw a growing appetite for the ruck and maul. This would stay with him throughout his adult years, moving to coaching later in life, and propelling him from height to height in the various rugby administrations he found himself in, such as UCC. As a result, it is no great surprise that he should find himself at the helm of his native Munster’s rugby, the result of years of dedication and ambition.

Again, we wish Charlie the best of luck in his role, and wish to express our utmost confidence in his ability and passion. It is a rare but worthwhile sight to see such life-long loyalty rewarded, and Charlie is certainly deserving in this regard.
