It was titled as Super Saturday and “Super” it was!

The 2024 Annual Dinner took place on Saturday 20th April at the Hotel Minella, Clonmel.

The activities kicked off early that day over at Ballykisteen Golf Club for the Union Golf Classic. Then at lunchtime over in Clonmel the Union hike kicked off at 1pm with a group of Rockwellians from years 1964 through 1988 setting off from the front door of the Minella to hike up to Holy Year Cross. It was the first weekend of spring sunshine most of us had seen all year with temperatures hitting twenty-one degrees. It was the perfect start to a great day ahead.

Having the Annual Dinner on a Saturday combined with warm weather, Rockwellians started to gather at the hotel in the early evening to enjoy conversation and catch with friends on the back lawn of the hotel as the sun was setting.

Dinner followed, and in true Minella style nobody went hungry that evening. A welcome address from President of the Union Ross Thompson, followed by congratulations to all the feature years that were part of the impressive 230 attendees. An auction conducted by John Fitzgerald raised very welcome funds for the union to support projects at Rockwell. The auction items were signed JP McManus Racing Silks donated by Shane Canavan of Precise Energy and a signed Munster Jersey.

The Rockwellian of The Year Award was presented to Mr Sean Tobin, class of 1981. A worthy winner of the award as Sean has tirelessly given his time to the union spanning a 30 year + period. Congratulations Sean!!

Thank you to all who attended on the evening, thank you to our sponsors Buttimer Engineering. We look forward to next year’s dinner as we start to plan the 100 Years of the union in 2025.

Keep an eye on the website for updates on that.
