Domhnall Blair (Class 1961)

Domhnall Blair

The Rockwell College Union was very saddened to hear of the passing of Domhnall Blair (Class 1961). Domhnall was a stalwart of the Union for many years and was Past President of the Union from 1987 to 1988 as were his father and uncle before him. Domhnall grew up in Moyne Road, Ranelagh and attended St. Mary’s College and Rockwell before qualifying as an engineer and joining Roadstone where he spent almost 40 years before retiring. He was Fellow of Engineers Ireland and, throughout his professional career, contributed to many committees and societies within Engineers Ireland. Domhnall made a huge contribution to the Union over many years which was recognised when he received the Rockwell Person of the Year award in 2023.

Domhnall is pictured above with his classmate, John L. Murray (Class 1961) who later became Chief Justice of Ireland and Fr. James Hurley C.S.Sp., former President of Rockwell College at the Union Dinner in 1988.

Our deepest condolences to Domhnall’s family. May he rest in peac
