We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Walter " Wally " Swinburn on Tuesday, December 12th 2016. A horse racing great and a former pupil of Rockwell College. Our three-time Derby-winning Champion Jockey died aged just 55 years old. He will be truly missed.

The Rockwell College Union takes great pride in the exploits and achievements of its past pupils, who participate at the highest level across many fields and professions. In light of this, we would like to take the opportunity to note some of the more recent accomplishments of our alumni, who continue to exemplify the Rockwell traditions of excellence and perseverance.
The death has occurred of Dr. John Anthony (Jack) JOLLEY. Stamullen, Meath / Valentia Island, Kerry On November 26th. Final Year: 1936

It is difficult to avoid Rockwell College past pupils in the area of sports currently. Apart form the great achievments of Bill Johnston and Sean O Connor (2015) in the U20s World Cup, past pupils on the Tipperary football team scored a historic victory over Cork to reach the Munster Final against Kerry. Conor Sweeney and Peter Acheson (2008), with Jimmy Feehan (2014) and Colm O Shaughnessey (2015) all featured on the team that took its first win...
The President and Governing Body of Rockwell College Union are pleased to present the Annual Report of the Union for the Year 2015/2016 Overall the focus for the term 2015/2016 was to define the Unions offering to past pupils and improve how we communicate the valuable resource that the Union is in supporting the Spiritan Mission and development of the college, as well as creating opportunities to renew old friendships and the forming of new ones.
The IRFU has announced the World Cup squad to pay in the u20s competition in Manchester this June. It includes two Rockwell College past pupils :Sean O'Connor andBill Johnston, who were (respectively) the Captain and Vice Captain of the Munster Senior Cup-winning team of 2015.
At the Annual Prize Day event this year, Rockwell College welcomed Ms. Muriel McAuley, granddaughter of Thomas McDonagh as Guest of Honour.The Principal, Ms. Audrey OByrne, in her opening speech, spoke of Thomas Mc Donagh spending a number of years at Rockwell and his poetry being influenced by the beauty of the scenes he enjoyed every day.
